Faces of Urban Forestry – Ed Cullen

Mar 29, 2018 | Faces of Urban Forestry

Meet Ed Cullen, ISA Certified Arborist with Cheyenne Urban Forestry. Ed is originally from the Los Angeles, CA area.  He  received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Forest management from  Northern ARizon University in Flagsraff, and then worked for the US Forest Service, and powerline clearance companies before joining Cheyenne Urban Forestry 16 years ago.  He says the best part of his job is seeing the completed work after “deadwooding” (removing deaf branches) and structural pruning (selective pruning to increase a tree’s structural strength).  Both practices result in a tree which is more open and healthier than it was before the pruning.

Ed’s favorite tree species are ginkgo and douglas fir; the ginkgo for it’s unique leaves, and douglas fir for its hardiness, color, and cones.
