Planting trees in honor of, and in memory of, loved ones is a powerful symbol.  Trees provide a lasting visual tie to a place and a person, and can become a family and community gathering place to remember people, tell stories, and look to the future.

The trees which Oliver’s Hope Sepsis Prevention and Awareness are donating to Rooted in Cheyenne are in remembrance of Oliver. He was such a sweet, happy boy. Ollie died on November 26, 2016, of sepsis. He was just 15 months old. Oliver’s parents had a beautiful tree planted at Oliver’s grave last spring. Ollie loved trees!

Oliver’s parents took him on hikes in five National Parks and various others in his short life. His Mom, Machelle,  wore him mostly and he would let her know when we needed to stop so he could touch a tree. He ran his fingers gently along the bark in amazement. He never saw a tree he didn’t like! He collected pinecones. He loved being outdoors.
