SUMMARY:2026 Fall Planting
DESCRIPTION:Join Us for Fall Planting!\n \n \n \n \n \n Help us celebrate 10 years of making a difference\, one tree at a time. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n 2026 Fall Planting\n \n \n \n \n \n September 19\, 2026 \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n The city of Cheyenne is currently facing issues of a canopy that has not been established and an ageing canopy that is shrinking due to high tree mortality caused by insect infestations\, extreme weather events\, and trees coming to the end of their lives.  Unfortunately\, trees are dying and being removed but are not being replaced causing large gaps in our tree canopy. \nWe have planted over 2\,000 trees since 2017\, and on September 19th we will be planting another 100! \n \n \n \n \n \n Our tree planting depends on volunteers – no prior experience is required!  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Event Details\n As a tree planting volunteer\, we will ask you to join us at the Cheyenne Urban Forestry Shop at 7:30 am.  Wear weather appropriate clothing including close-toed shoes. We suggest dressing in layers as it is usually chilly in the morning but warms up quickly.  Water bottles\, gloves\, and ear plugs will be available at the shop for your use. When you arrive\, we ask that you park on the west side of the parking lot and enter through the south entrance of the building. \nUpon entering you will be asked to check-in\, given your shirt\, safety vest\, and directed to the center bay of the shop.  Feel free to grab coffee\, breakfast and introduce yourself to the other volunteers.  At 8:00am there will be a short welcome and safety overview.  Crew leaders will be introduced\, and you will be asked to split into even planting groups under each crew leader.  Each planting group will be led by a crew leader and a Rooted in Cheyenne board member or Cheyenne Urban Forestry crew member.  Each planting group will leave the forestry shop and head to their first planting site – we request that groups carpool as much as possible.  You will be guided on how to plant trees to industry standard at each planting site.  Crews will plant 8-10 trees and then return to the Cheyenne Urban Forestry Shop to enjoy lunch. \nFreedom’s Edge Brewing Company graciously offers all planting volunteers a free 10 oz. pour of beer to enjoy on the day of planting. We hope to see you after planting to enjoy a cold local craft beer! \nIf you want to volunteer but are unable to plant trees\, please contact us at (307) 773-1094 or use our contact page.  We have a few different ways you can help us on the day of the event. \nAll volunteers must be 12 years of age or older and registered prior to planting day to ensure even planting groups. Please ensure that family or friends you plan to bring with you register prior to the event. For safety reasons\, we will be limiting the number of volunteers during our planting days. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Additional Opportunity\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Tree Haulers are Needed\n \n View Details\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n This role is perfect for individuals\, businesses\, contractors\, and organizations that have access to a truck and trailer and want to make a visible\, meaningful impact during a Rooted in Cheyenne planting event. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Registration is Required\n \n \n \n \n \n Join Us for a Greener Tomorrow\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n To participate in our upcoming fall planting event\, please complete the registration form below. SUMMARY:2024 Fall Planting
DESCRIPTION:The city of Cheyenne is currently facing issues of a canopy that has not been established and an ageing canopy that is shrinking due to high tree mortality caused by insect infestations\, extreme weather events\, and trees coming to the end of their lives.  Unfortunately\, trees that are dying are not being replaced causing large gaps in our tree canopy.   Tree Equity means investing in communities with the most need by growing trees\, creating jobs and implementing just policies. Specifically in Cheyenne\, some neighborhoods need a little more help than others so each year we focus on neighborhoods that have low tree equity scores and need the additional assistance.  This Spring we have targeted the neighborhoods between Lincolnway and College Dr. to the west of South Greeley Highway. Planting days like this one increases tree equity by supplying more trees that Cheyenne residents can gain health\, economic\, and climate benefits from. These free trees are made possible by American Forests and funded by Microsoft. More about Tree Equity can be found at Americanforests.org/our-programs/tree-equity and treeequityscore.org. \nWe have planted over 1\,500 trees since 2017\, help us plant more trees at our Fall 2024 Planting Day on September 21st! \nOur tree planting depends on volunteers – no prior experience required!  As a planting day volunteer\, we will ask you to join us at the Cheyenne Urban Forestry Shop at 7:30 am.  Wear weather appropriate clothing including close-toed shoes. We suggest dressing in layers as it is usually chilly in the morning but warms up quickly.  Water bottles\, gloves\, sunscreen\, and ear plugs will be available at the shop for your use. When you arrive\, we ask that you park on the west side of the lot and enter through the south entrance of the building. \n \nUpon entering you will be asked to sign in\, given your t-shirt\, safety vest\, and directed to the center bay of the shop.  Feel free to grab coffee\, breakfast and introduce yourself to the other volunteers.  There will be a short welcome and safety overview. You will be guided on the proper way to plant the trees at each planting site.  Crews will plant 8-10 trees and then return to the Cheyenne Urban Forestry Shop to enjoy lunch. \nFreedom’s Edge Brewing Company graciously offers all planting volunteers a free 10 oz. pour of beer to enjoy on the day of planting. We hope see you after planting to enjoy a cold local craft beer! \nIf you want to volunteer but are unable to plant trees\, please contact us at (307) 637-6428 or use our contact page.  We have a few different ways you can help. \nAll volunteers must be registered prior to planting day to ensure even planting groups. Please ensure that family or friends you plan to bring with you register prior to the event. For safety reasons\, we will be limiting the number of volunteers during our planting days. Registration begins July 1st\, please review the waivers and click Register below to get started!\n \n \n \n \n \n Rooted in Cheyenne Volunteer Waiver & Release of Liability\nEvent Date: September 21\, 2024\nEvent Location: Forestry Shop (4300 Converse Ave. Cheyenne\, WY 82001) & Right-of-way areas throughout Cheyenne \nIn participating in the event indicated on this form\, I acknowledge that I understand there are risks of accidents resulting in bodily harm to me arising out of this activity.
