Volunteer Spotlight – Dennis and Mary Kay Hemmer

Dennis and Mary Kay Hemmer have made an extraordinary offer to Rooted in Cheyenne. Dennis purchased his own 250 gallon water tank so that he could water Rooted in Cheyenne trees this summer. Watering trees during establishment is vital here in Cheyenne, and their donation of the tank, and their time, will help insure all the Rooted in Cheyenne trees receive the water they need.
Why did they make this offer? In the words of Dennis, “When we moved to Cheyenne almost 30 years ago, we fell in love with the city. One of the things we fell in love with were the old majestic street trees in the older part of town. We realize many of these trees are near the end of their lives and need to be replaced. Growing a tree in Cheyenne is hard work and they need care. We volunteered to water trees for Rooted in Cheyenne so that future generations can also fall in love with Cheyenne’s trees like we did.”
Thank you, Dennis and Mary Kay for your generosity, and your love for Cheyenne’s trees!
