Crew Leader
Lead the Team That Grows Cheyenne.
Crew Leaders are the heart of a successful planting event. They create a positive volunteer experience while ensuring trees are planted correctly and safely.
As a Crew Leader, you’ll be paired with a Tree Hauler who transports the trees, tools, and supplies needed by your crew. This allows you to focus on what matters most—leading volunteers, teaching proper planting techniques, and helping your team have a rewarding and impactful day.
No professional tree care experience is required. We’ll provide the training, resources, and support you need to confidently guide your crew.

What You’ll Do
- Welcome and support a team of volunteers throughout the event.
- Demonstrate proper tree planting and care techniques.
- Answer questions and provide encouragement to volunteers.
- Help maintain a safe, organized, and positive work environment.
- Coordinate with your assigned Tree Hauler to ensure your crew has the supplies it needs.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between volunteers and event organizers.
What We’re Looking For
- A positive attitude and enthusiasm for working with people.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Comfortability in leading small groups and helping volunteers of all experience levels.
- Reliability and a commitment to creating a great volunteer experience.
- A passion for strengthening Cheyenne’s urban forest and community.

Why Become a Crew Leader?
Crew Leaders play a unique role in the success of every planting event. You’ll help new volunteers gain confidence, ensure trees are planted for long-term success, and build connections within the community. Many volunteers say the people they meet and the impact they make together are the most rewarding parts of the day.
Crew Leaders lead people. Tree Haulers move materials. Together, they create a successful planting experience that helps Cheyenne grow one tree at a time.
